Van gogh’s café terrace

Elegant lettering and design at Van Gogh’s Café Terrace in Arles, France.
Vincent Van Gogh arrived in the town in 1888 and lived here for 15 months. In that time he produced more than 300 paintings in what was probably the most productive (though difficult) period of his life.
He knew this café well – the Café Terrace on Place du Forum. Today it’s (inevitably, I suppose) the Café Van Gogh, and it’s been restyled to appear as it did in the 1880s. See it .
Adoring Van Gogh’s work and feeling a definite affinity with the man, I must admit I got a kick out of visiting the place.
